Licensed Marital and Family Therapist & Licensed Professional Counselor
The DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, in the state of Texas, requires of its Professional Counselors and Marriage & Family therapists:
- to complete a Graduate degree from an accredited school of Psychology or Counseling
- to complete the required number of Clock hours of supervised practice post-Graduate
- are held to a high standard of counseling AND ethical competence
- are required to pass State exams for each license obtained
- and must keep current regarding new developments in the field, pursuing continued education hours in order to renew their license (s) yearly.
